Why is sensitivity training or any employee training important? Because it provides information useful for us to understand the companies polices and meet the expectations of the job.
Sensitivity training offers us the opportunity to see everyday workplace situations through different lenses; and understand the impact of our comments and behaviors on ourselves, co-workers and others. It is important to note that sensitivity training isn’t about political correctness, nor is it about trying to change who you are, what you think, believe; or how you live your life. It is about understanding how some of the behaviors you engage in the workplace can have a negative impact on the work environment. It is understanding the differences in all of us and realizing that individually our differences makes us unique but together our differences makes us stronger.

So, what is sensitivity training specifically? It is training on preventing harassment, sexual harassment, workplace violence and discrimination including discrimination based on race, sex, gender, color creed, religion and national origin. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 expressly prohibits discrimination based on these factors; and there are various state laws as well. We provide training on these topics so we can ensure we are following the various laws.
